The Municipal Corporation of Pune (PMC) came into being on the 15th of Februrary 1950 and is in charge of the administration in the city of Pune. Numerous services are provided by the Municipal Corporation of Pune. These services can be broadly categorised into obligatory and discretionary services. The obligatory service of the department includes construction of schools, health centers, ensuring sufficient water supply to all. Its discretionary services include maintaining public spaces like parks, museums and community halls. Apart from these, the PMC also works for the rehabilitation of slums and downtrodden areas.
